Using Redsn0w is quicker than all that if you have much if anything on your phone. Restoring all the data takes hours. Redsn0w takes 2 minutes.

My friend had the same problem with is iPhone4. Jailbroken on 4.1, upgraded to 4.3.3 via iTunes, then the disappearing the Cydia trick like everyone else. Resets and turned off and on, same thing. He jailbroke using Redsn0w and it worked perfectly.

Now that you can't downgrade to 3.0 or 3.01 on the 3GS, do you HAVE to restore before jailbreaking with Redsn0w (per the iClarified tutorial) or can you just run Redsn0w without restoring? Any downsides to not restoring before jailbreaking? I've asked this question on several sites, no answer...
