What's the best approach to starting a Smart Home strategy?

I will have to check these out. Sounds about what I'm looking for. Price is still a bit hard to take (vs non-automated).

What's the best approach to starting a Smart Home strategy?

Thanks for the very comprehensive and helpful response!!! The one thing I already have is the major thing that is not Homekit compatible: a Nest thermostat. I agree with your thinking on the utility of that and I think it has saved us a great deal of money in the 3 years we've had it (hard to...

What's the best approach to starting a Smart Home strategy?

I am a regular homeowner with kids in college. I don't really want/need lights that change colors radically for parties or music mixes (that said, I wouldn't mind something that helps out during long winters with Seasonal Affective Disorder, but I digress). What are some good, down to earth...

    WatchOS 3.1.3

I am hearing that there's a pretty good battery bump from this update.

    Siri hands free with Bluetooth

Apparently this issue was mentioned by Apple in the release notes, so that's a good thing: they should be on the way to a fix. I actually have to hold my button down all the way until Siri completes the action I requested. That's a real pain...

    Notification Center blank widgets

Another fix (from MacRumors) is, if you have blank widgets, to change your system language. Then change it back to your preferred language and the widgets will have content. Takes about a minute. Worked for me.

    Voicemail transcription

Jumping in here: anyone seeing this? Particularly users in the US on phones "below" iPhone 6s/6s+? That seems to be the dividing line. Very curious if that is permanent (like raise to wake) or just during roll out. Wish I could get my hand on the Beta release notes, but as a non-developer...

    Must have apps

Thermo Watch, if you have a Nest thermostat. Allows you to control it from the Watch. As of yesterday, you can now do it with your voice!

    Becoming a beta tester?

Have had exactly zero problems with iOS betas. Some complain about lag and stutter, but those are incidentals. Now I will add that I won't touch the beta for a major launch (e.g., iOS 10 or whatever its going to be called) until its really, really well baked. But that may be the case on the...

iOS 9.3 Beta 7 for Developers is live

re: iOS 9.3 beta for Developers is live Is anyone here on Dev Beta 4 seeing issues with third party app notifications not coming through on your Apple Watch post install? Particularly if you are not running WatchOS 2.2 beta? Over on MacRumors, a number of users are reporting this issue.

We're giving away an Apple Watch!

It'd be nice to be able to gift one to someone so that I'll finally be able to send sketches! (nice promotion, guys! Thanks!)

When and how often do you charge your Apple Watch?

I've been using Sleep++ the last 2 days. Here's the battery usage and recharging I've had: -Thursday night 10 pm 42% after full day's use -Put on airplane mode and activate Sleep++ -Up at 6 am, battery at 34% -Put watch on charger. 100% within 65 mins or so (I checked via iPhone battery...

How is the call quality on the Apple Watch?

My advice: don't try it in a noisy environment. But it works. And just think about that for a second!

Contest: Win the brand new iPad Pro from iMore!

Would likely use for work. Sketching with pencil might be fun, too.
