I don't bother with screen protectors... been running the 3GS since getting it naked, and not a single scratch or slight scratch or "can only see in the right light" scratch... good as the day I got it... so the iPad will go naked as well... I'm not worried about it

I tether with MiWi to and I find it hard to break 1g a month. Then again I don't do anything heavy like youtube or any kind of media streaming, mostly just web page and forum browsing. Which would be my suggestion I suppose. Just stay away from the video till you're on wifi somewhere.

Sitting in an IHOP now having breakfast. I get some stares anywhere I go with it, and a few inquiries, but most around here simply don't know what it is. Most reactions I get are like I come from the future. I don't worry about having it out though. I don't think too many would try to take it...
