How to delete a Huge video files from Mac?

My friend got this issue with his macOS Sierra. He copied a huge video folder which was taken more than 100GB to external Hard. After that, he tried to delete the folder on the computer. It shows that the folder was deleted but space does not free up. He tried to restart several times also. So anyone knows why is this happening and how to fix this problem.

Yes, the deleted file was moved to trash, so it is still taking up space on the disk. Have your friend attach the external disk again and empty the trash - that should free up the space.
