Yesterday I had my first problem with my iMac (late 2013). When starts I see the apple logo and the progress bar appears, then by about 1 minute approx 75% of progress bar the iMac shuts itself down.
I ran disk utility and get this message:

------------------------------------
The volume Macintosh HD could not be verified completely.
File system check exit code is 8.
Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required.
File system verify or repair failed.
Operation failed...
------------------------------------

I also got the same error running on command prompt:
$ /sbin/fsck -fy

** The volume Macintosh HD could not be verified completely.

Really I don't know what to do next, may be buy [redacted].
Anyone with solutions or suggestions?
Also do you recommend to buy [redacted]?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry for late response, and yes it was a faulty hard disk drive (original). So I used diskwarrior to take all data out (very lucky), that took almost 26 hours. Replaced the hard drive with SSD. So far so good for now.

Which SSD did you replace it with?
