Bought a new 13.3" MBA two weeks ago. I've noticed that sometimes when I wake it up by lifting the lid, there will be a second or two of screen color flickering in the top 3rd of the display. It doesn't happen when I am using an external display.

I'm pretty much always running Chrome when this happens. I disabled Chrome's hardware acceleration on a whim. That may have made it somewhat better. Hard to tell. Not sure if it's related to Chrome or not because I pretty much always have it running. But the flicker is not just in the Chrome window, it runs the full width of the display.

Any thoughts? Worth a trip to the Apple Store? Or is this no big deal or has an easy fix?

    Thanks in advance

My suggestion would be to try another browser altogether first. Try Safari and see if you're having the same issue. Try a NVRAM reset : https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT204063. Try a SMC reset : https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201295. If my suggestions don't work, then my next suggestion would be to make a Genius appointment to have it looked at.

Thanks! I did the NVRAM a few days ago. Just did the SMC reset this morning. I'll give it a few days and see how it goes.

    Thanks again,
    Chris
