Bought a MacBook little over 2 years ago unfortunately the LCD panel needs to be replaced. I have lots of content I can't access due to the display issue just showing a white screen. So I found my Lacie Porsche harddrive where I hopefully have saved the important stuff from my MacBook I plug it into my 12 years old iMac only one of the two partitioning of the drive shows up but there's nothing I have saved on it. I know I used it for time machine and potentially saved my photos on it. Is there anyway to access it on my old imac? Or is it easier buying a adapter to my MacBook and use it on another external display?

Use an external display. Save all your data to One Drive, DropBox, etc... Then access your accounts via your new laptop. Use a cloud service and always keep a current copy of files that you create or any non-replaceable data.
