External Monitor Advise

I have a MBr 2017 with i5 processor. I use my laptop for a email, web browsing, and document editing. I use the Digital AV Mulitport Adapter to plug into an external monitor and keyboard. I currently have a 24in 1080p display but would like to upgrade this. I've looked at the 4k LG UltraFine and I'd like something 27in or larger rather than a 21.5 in screen. I'm interested in getting people's perspectives about resolution, aspect ratio, usb-c port integration, etc.
