Can my MacBook utilize an ultra-wide display at full resolution?

Can my MacBook, with 2304 horizontal pixel resolution, be used to drive an ultra-wide display at full resolution? I'm thinking of getting something like an LG display with 3440 horizontal pixels.
If so, what connector should I use?
