I know the battery life is good but this is ridiculous!

Of course it's a mistake, but the battery info shows 1 cycle, data of manufacture 03/07/2011. Age 10 years old!
Obviously someone put in 2011 instead of 2021. I have to wonder if this requires service or replacement?!

To be on the safe side, I recommend you contact Apple regarding this matter.

Why would it need service or replacement? You're showing 100% battery health. They must have a lot of batteries in stock from 2011. If you're concerned, call Apple Support and ask about it.

Yes I know it's just human error when the prom was burned (figuratively speaking) but it could be a problem with resale down the road.
Funny thing about 2011 that is the year I bought my first MacBook Pro, 17" model!

You might want to check the battery health before your warranty runs out. Make sure it's on par with the time used.

A lithium ion battery would have seriously degraded after ten years in storage. My guess is that the App being used was designed for an Intel Mac and not adjusted for an M1 version and is giving incorrect details.

Either the app has a defect in parsing the information provided by Apple.

Another possibility is that the battery controller is 10 years old, but the battery cells are brand new.

I personally wouldn’t worry in either case, as long as the battery works normally. I suspect the first scenario to be honest.

March 07, 2021 makes sense, it's just off by 10 years!
The app works fine on two other M1 MBPs with identical configurations and Big Sur so I'm sure it's fine.
It's most likely a matter of human error that slipped by QC.
Rarity indeed!

I know this is old but finally have an update!
Indeed, it WAS the app! It was ALSO showing my 16" M1MAX mbp battery with an extra 10 years added on.
The developer has since updated the app and now it is correctly reporting the battery age.
What was strange is when I first got my 13" 2020 it did show the age correctly. A big sur update must have changed something.
All of the other battery parameters were correct, however.
