    The procedure works up to a point. After entering computer PW at final step I receive the following prompt: "The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items." The folders that are in the trash only show up when I have my MacBook Pro connected to my external backup drives and appear to be empty folders from an old G5 I had. They seem to be some kind of empty Time Machine folders..here's a copy of the folder names (again no data in the folders) Dennis Bell’s Power Mac G5 (2) 2011-07-24-123834

    Attach that external drive to your MacBook and then select to empty the trash.
