The wise decision depends on "you", your needs and your finances. If it were me, I'd buy the 2015 MBP w/the 256GB SSD.

    Why? For the ports?

Agreed...depends on what you are trying to do. Personally, I would go with the new 2016 MBP. Mainly due to the updated tech (Processor, memory, faster SSD, better cooling, etc)...however, if the ports are needed, you will be spending additional $$ on adapters, so keep that in mind.

Its good to get a 2015 macbook If you want a macbook for browsing, playing Vedio and music etc.If the performance is the priority it's good to buy a new Mac book.

I asked practically this same question the last few weeks : http://forums.imore.com/macbook-pro/...ro-2015-a.html

It comes down to what are you going to use the Macbook Pro for, and would you be OK with the early issues of the 2016 version so far (ie: lack of ports, erratic battery life, graphics issues, Touch Bar limitations, etc.). The 2015 version is still selling well because by and large it was a solid laptop.

Good choice on the 2015 model! I own one too and I love it a lot. Today I played around with the new touchbar MBP and though I'm impressed by the intuitively of the touchbar, I wasn't too impressed on the matte finishing which made the OLED less bright and sharp.

I have a question. I'm selling my 2015 MacBook Pro to get out of debt. Any recommendations on the best place online to try to sell it?

Craigslist or Facebook. Cut out the middle man and get full market value.

Why choose the old model for the same price?

2016 one is superior in every aspect:

-Better form factor, lighter and smaller footprint
    -Better display
    -Larger Trackpad
    -Better keyboard
    -Far better audio
    -Faster GPU
    -Faster SSD
    -Faster and future-proof connections Thunderbolt3/usb-c 40 gb/s
    -Better design and color

No touchbar model has the same price and same good battery life as 2015 model.

    I agree with Just_Me_D .

For right now, and for the average person. The 2015 Macbook Pro is a far better choice. Yes its not the latest and greatest but you getting all the.. 'legacy' ports which will make your life a lot easier. Plus, you can also spec it up higher since the price is now lower. Plus you saving money but not having to buy silly 'Adapter' and 'dongles'

Also its important to note, at least with the 2015 version you can upgrade some things.

    Haha not even close!

The resell value on my top spec late 2015 model just went up because of the new systems shortcomings. That I have to thank Apple for.

?? He said same price, and I'm pretty sure the 2016 base comes with 256gb ssd, so it just comes down to ports.

Then you have smaller form factor and better screen on 2016.

If the price would have been different I would say 2015 but for the same price 2016 is where it's at.

Typically, if the previous model is the same price as the newest model then that particular previous model has more to offer, and my reply was, in part, based on that assumption.

Yeah I got that but to me it sounded like it was basically the same model just newer. Both had 256gb ssd, both same price, older one has more ports, newer one is thinner and has a better screen.

For once I would lean towards the newer one for the same price.

If the 2015 had a bigger ssd or more ram I would chose it too

Yeah, me too. But he can buy this year's model and add a ssd himself, if he's tech savvy.

    Cheers

And void the warranty -- just get the one with the best specs for you, forget about the release date.

I have both the mid 2014 and the 2016 Macbook 13 and by far the 2016 is faster with a brighter screen in my opinion. The port issue is solved with $20 worth of adapters from Amazon. All around the newer Macbook beats the older one in my opinion.
