I could use detail on this as well and also info on target display mode for making iMac's into monitor's so consider this bumped for detail... fingers crossed.

It actually gets pretty warm if you try.
A USB-C to DisplayPort adapter will work for a single external display. If you daisy-chain additional monitors, they will mirror the first external. MacOS does not currently support daisy-chaining DisplayPort monitors.
If anyone has found something that works better please let me know.
