Adding Memory and/or Space

How much of a hassle is it to add extra memory and/or space to a 13" MacBook Pro (2014)? I use a WD external drive (2 TB) for music, photos and movies but presently do not have any of my applications on it. As I will be stuck with this for awhile, would it be better to switch a few of the applications to the external as a cost-cutting measure?

RAM is soldered to board. So no go there......


But you can upgrade the SSD for space if you wish.
