On Friday I bought my first (well, second, I didn't keep the first one, but two days) MackBook Pro Retina, 8GB, 128GB SSD.

Today, 15th May, I've finally opened the box, and started to configure it. This is taking ages. Well, mainly because Outlook.com email doesn't work like Exchange Active Sync, via the Mac Mail app. Most frustrating. Took me ages to figure that out. I'm now using my personal domain email, via Office 365, and via 'accounts' from the MacBook. Thus I now have all my email, calendar and contacts, just like on my iPad and iPhone. But, honestly, this shouldn't have been this difficult!!!

Anyway, I go to the Apple shop, looking for the free Outlook email app. And, guess what, there isn't a free one. Why? The iPad and iPhone have one. Fine, I'll pay for one. I'd to have an 'easy' app to check my work email (Office 365). Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance. Let's see how far I get with this MacBook Pro. I saw a Thunderbolt 27", and yeah, I want one. I've already tipped the missus, too

I use Roundcube and really like it. Super easy to setup and works great for all my personal & business domain email. I have access to it from any computer as it is web based. Nice UI that is very simple to use. I have been using it for several years and have never run into an issue with it.

Surprised you had a hard time setting everything up. I love setting up a new Mac. As for the thunderbolt display, do I need to say more. I have been using a 27" screen iMac since Apple first introduced them. I could never go anything smaller. Love the screen real estate when I do my design work or image editing. I would have just brought one home and told my wife I have 14 days to return it. Wink, wink! Then on day 15 tell her it is to late to return. Oops!

LMAO about the returning period. Been there done that before. I'll wait a few weeks and bam, drop that on her.

The real issue was merely setting up my Outlook.com email account. And that includes the Calendar and Contacts for it, too.

Suffice to say, I ended up scraping that idea and configured my personal Office 365 domain account instead. Something to do with Apple Mac NOT supporting the Microsoft Active Sync. Whereas the iPhone and iPad do support it. Bloody weird...

Microsoft Outlook 2016 is included with 365. At least, it is with mine. It automatically installed when I installed Office. By the way, congrats on your new purchase. I also purchased my first Mac this weekend.

Weird! Yesterday when I went to my Office 365 account, Office 2016 was available, for a fee.
I then installed Office 2011. Then this morning, after reading your post I checked again. Now, I'm able to download and install Office 2016.

    Weird. Thanks
