Is there a way to hide the unread mail count in junk and trash?

This is driving me crazy. Is there a way to automatically hide the unread mail count in the trash and junk folders of Mail? I know that I can right click the folder and mark all as read, but it gets annoying after a while. Is there a setting to hide the count?

Yep. You can do any of the following:
1. Open each unread message
2. Mark them all as read
3. Delete them
4. *Possibly* by disabling the badge count in the settings.

Set a rule ... to identify mail as junk or trash, as desired, and set one of the conditions in the rules to Mark as Read.
