Macbook Air 2020 M1 - What do the battery icons signify?

I have two icons that look like batteries in the upper right hand corner of the screen, between the Magnifier icon and the Siri icon. I thought they signified my phone battery life, but they don't ever seen to change.

What are they?

I'm a new Mac user. Beeen using Windows since v3.1 and bought this Macbook Air on a whim to see if I could make it work for my needs. Really like it so far.
