Will photo tags or keywords generated in Windows carry over to the Mac

I have had several iPhones and am now purchasing my first Macbook. My question deals with photos. I have around 20,000 photos that I have painstakingly added tags/keywords to using Picasa, Windows, and other Windows based software. Those keywords/tags have been available no matter the computer or software I have used. Will the same be true on the Mac? WIll the tags/keywords I added on WIndows be viewable on the Mac Photos app?

They should, but things don't always go the way we want them to when switching from one OS to another.
