Dual Sided Charging Port

I'm sure this must have been asked a hundred times before but why the heck did they not design these with charging ports on both sides? I know space is limited already but If it were me I'd have made it on top of the keyboard at the edges. Have the MagSafe snap down from the top onto the port. It's just annoying draping a cord across when your power source is on the right side of the room.
