will el capitan slow my 2011 macbook air?

My 11' MBA from 2011 has 4gb of ram. will el capitan speed it up or slow it down?

Given what they said in the keynote I'd expect it will not perform any worse than on Yosemite...

...though wouldn't it be nice that when OS developers came out with a new version, they actually did some significant pruning? That they were actually less-problematic and had far less historical and proprietary baggage, bloat and gimmickry involved? Then allow users to pick which currently OS-embedded 'features' and software to install...
