After reading THIS article via the iMore Blog , I had to ask the following question:

Who in the heck is going to pay $40 to $60K for a Jony Ive designed red Mac Pro when a non Ive designed version costs around $3K? Heck, if I had the kind of money to be able to purchase it, I wouldn't, but that's Just Me, D. What about you?

It's a charity auction. The actual product cost is immaterial to the price it might get at auction. The extra value comes from it being a one-of-a-kind item, I think. Also it very well might not be the low end $2999 Mac Pro but a fully souped up 12 core, 128GB RAM, 1 TB flash hard drive version. But still a smaller price than the auction price. I'm guessing that the types of people who buy things from charity auctions like this don't have to worry about money at all.

If I had the disposable income, I'd bid on it.
