Re: Mac Mini

 I am considering purchasing a used Mac Mini to use as a HTPC.

I have been looking at the Used Mac Mini at Powermax:
https://www.powermax.com/productcategory/used-macs-intel-mac-mini

I am not sure if there will be enough computer power and how good the graphics card would be to support Kodi.

Is anyone using a Mini Mac for HTPC and which model are you using?

I'm using a 2014 mid range mini as an iTunes server, manage two iPads and iPhones, basic home computing needs, and HTCP.

The current bottom of the line Mac Mini is more than enough for HTCP or server duties.

I've never used Kodi, but a quick trip to their website shows that it works on the Raspberry Pi. They even sell a custom case for $20. If I were in your shoes, thats what I would do, instead of buying an eight year old mini. Raspberry Pi it.

Re: Mac Mini

I am using a 2006 version A1176 macmini2,1. It was originally a core solo (macmini1,1 flashed to 2,1) but I put in a T7600 (2.3Ghz) and 3Gb of ram. Been running XBMC for over 6 years on it, still going strong. I have 10.7.5, and Kodi 16 (Jarvis) on it right now. It boots on a SSD in less than 30 seconds and its ready to start watching shows. Good luck!
