I have an old 2009 Mac Mini (2GHz Core 2 Duo and 2 GB RAM) with Mac OS 10.6.8.
I need to upgrade it to at least 10.7.

Would you suggest me to upgrade it to Mac OS Mavericks? Or maybe some older version (just like 10.7)?
It won't be too slow with just 2GB RAM?

Thanks in advance for the reply!

I have a MacBook early 2009 model with the same specs but with the exception that I added an additional 2GBs of RAM, and it run OS X Mavericks without a problem.

4 gigs of ram? I thought the mac mini supported just 3gigs maximum..at least so I have heard..but maybe is different on the macbook!

Any experiences with 2GB of ram on a mac mini?

Sorry, can't be any help with the 2GB part but I have a 2009 Mini with 8GB of RAM and Mavericks runs fine (it does kind of bog down sometimes though but it is a temporary slow down). You could backup your current HDD though, upgrade to Mavericks and if it is terrible revert to 10.6.8

But is it possible to have 8gb of ram on a mac mini? The dealer told me that the mac mini recognize just 3gb of ram maximum, not more than 3gb...
