Mac Mail read/Receipt Confirmation

My apologies in advance if this question has already been answered somewhere else in this forum.

Does Mail Mail have return receipt, confirmation of receipt or any similar feature?This is somewhat standard in Outlook, and so I have grown accustomed to this.

Nonetheless, there are times when it is important to know that an email message I sent out was received and read.

If Mac Mail has this feature, I really appreciate someone directing me to an answer.

Mac OS X Mail does not respect read receipts. So essentially they are useless. They can be set up using the Terminal App. I don't recommend it though unless you are familiar with the Terminal App as it is very easy to make a mistake. My best suggestion is to find a third party app.
