    Thought this might come in handy for anyone looking for a jailbreak-ready device. It's an online tool that parses iDevice serial numbers to figure out the manufacturing date, and then returns the iOS version number that was included during that period. It's not perfect, but if you can ask to examine the serial numbers before purchasing (you might need a particularly friendly sales associate for that part!) it could prove helpful as the supply of pre-6.1.3 devices dries up.     I read on another thread that you just need a phone manufactured before March of this year. I assumed the box would say the manufacture date since the original poster mentioned this.

    Which original poster do you mean? As far as I know there are no actual dates listed on the boxes; you'd need to decipher the serials--which is what this tool does.
