iphone 3g dead forever? or something im doing!! PLEASE HELP!

i have an iphone 3g and recently i tried to downgrade from ios 4.2.1. to 4.1, i did so and everything was running smoothly till i hit error 1015, then i did as they told me in the instructions but it didnt go as i wanted it to, so the apple logo comes on and stays on for a long time the goes on a pure white screen, then i try to put it into DFU mode, it comes up connect to itunes, and when i do so, it wants me to restore, and then i do, but it then comes up with another error message, not the 1015. Please help!!!!
