iPhone 4 with 5.0 - how to upgrade to 5.1.1 for jailbreak

Hi Guys,

I've got an iPhone 4 on 5.0 that I would like to upgrade to 5.1.1 to perform an untethered jailbreak. I've had a look through redsn0w and can't see how I can do this without blobs for 5.1.1, I obviously only have blobs for 5.0.

Is this possible, and if so, how?

If you don't have blobs, you cannot upgrade to 5.1.1, only to 5.0 or 6.0 (currently signed firmware). Sorry.
If you open cydia, what blobs does it list for your device?

You can jailbreak IOS 5.

I would do that for now, until there is an untether patch for IOS 6. Then upgrade when it's available or live with a semi tethered jailbreak until its untethered.

Thanks for the replies guys. What's the best way to do a tethered IOS 5 jailbreak? I have Absinthe for jailbreaking 5.1.1 but this refuses to do the iPhone with 5.0?

You need to download the older version of redsn0w that supports jailbreaking 5.0. It should be version 0.9.9b5. Iclarified has a link in their tutorial.
