Every so often after I respring from Cydia my icons turn into white squares instead of the normal icon. Today it happened when I updated Cydia. I've tried a hard reset. Any ideas?

i don't think there really is a clear cut answer for this unusual phenomena.. i've had it go away after a respring, reboot or just after time

i just chalk it up to one of those oddities of jailbreaking -- comes with the territory i guess. it does bother me a lot tho

It's weird, I never had it happen on any of my devices except my 4S. I guess it might be due to the software I used to JB. I guess it's not a big deal, but it bothers me too.

I've seen it occasionally with just one icon at a time, and never the same one... it clears after a power down & restart.

Mine occasionally show more than one, but usually it's just one at a time. It's always a stock app for some reason. I've tried powering down and a hard reset. Today is the first time one of the two solutions hasn't helped.

Probably not necessary but I just reinstall the previous app that was installed to get rid of the white icon.

i believe the OP might be referring to native apps, which cannot just be reinstalled

It works for native apps as well I just reinstall the previous cydia tweak again and it works. I don't remove it I just click reinstall.

Reinstall "uikitt tools" from Cydia (manage->packages). That's what handles the display of the icons. That will fix it without a reboot/respring.

Respring is the easiest for me to fix it - on the rare occasion that it happens. Also some of the white icons you are seeing might be built-in debugging apps on the device.

+1. Just respring. It does the trick, and it takes no time at all... Install SBSettings for the proper shortcut.
