I backed up my iphone prior to jailbreaking when the newest IOS was 5.0.1. I then jailbroke with Absinthe (Sp?).

I'm having issues, so I want to restore and re-jailbreak. Will restoring from icloud force the new IOS 5.1.1? I'm hoping to keep 5.0.1 so I'am able to jailbreak again.

    Thanks!

If you hit restore you will go to 5.1.1 period

What is the state of your phone ? Use redsnow to jailbreak

Everything on the phone works, except cydia. Cydia will launch and display all packages, then after i click on any package I get a blank screen without any details. Because of this, I cannot add or remove any tweaks at all. I was hoping to restore to 5.0.1 (which is where I'm currently at) and re-jailbreak using absinthe again.

Try redsnow and let redsnow install Cydia or just redo your jailbreak .. Restore is not a option as it will put you too 5.1.1

I'll re-do the jailbreak. But how do I remove the jailbreak without restoring the phone to pre-jailbreak status?

Update the software is the only way

Damn. I assume that by updating the software you me IOS. There's no jailbreak for the new IOS 5.1.1 so I can't update the software without losing my ability to jb.

Phone was messing up big time. I tried to restore from iCloud, but my phone kept freezing. My only course of action was to update the iOS, which I did. My phone is finally working again but I lost my jailbreak. It's all good, maybe a jailbreak for 5.1.1 will be made available sometime in the future.
