I really like the Mountain Lion Messages app on my MacBook. However, it only sends iMessages and Apple will most likely keep it that way...

Have any jailbreak developers considered the idea of tweaking Messages on Mac to direct to iPhone when sending SMS messages?

That way no matter if I am on the computer or on my phone I can seamlessly send iMessages and SMS (A functionality that I'm willing to pay $10+ for, and most likely thousands of other jailbreak users)

    Just an idea.

Wow that is really cool! Too bad the interface is a little gross.

Imagine if somebody could hack Messages on Mac to access this data?

DeskSMS is another option with features somewhat like WifiSMS - DeskSMS for iPhone Lets You Respond to Texts via GChat or Your Favorite IM Client

Just started using and I will report back soon. It's an interesting idea because you can (semi) integrate it in to Messages for Mac!

It's actually working very well! The chrome extension has a few bugs but runs circles around WifiSMS.

Sometimes my phone reboots though so I am not sure if I will be using this yet.

Thanks a bunch guys. I'm using DeskSMS and besides a few bugs it has been working nicely. The tweak dev is also updating it soon apparently.

Only problem is I think the Android developer of DeskSMS might not be getting paid for his work...
