automatically download podcasts

so itunes on my pc has the ability to automatically download podcasts that hit the itunes store...
why is this not an option on my iphone4?
or is it and im missing it?
i dont necessarily want an additional application, but would totally settle for one if it is necessary.
what i really want:
an application that i can configure to look for new podcasts at a certain time of day, (or time interval)
the application would then download said podcast!

ideally, it would put them in the lodcast folder of my music app, but im pretty sire that wont happen...

is there anything like this?

Look no further than Downcast, in the App Store.

It's a wonderful app. I used to use the built-in podcast app but now Downcast has completely replaced that for me. Not only do podcasts download direct to device, but there are more options for skipping forward and backward, streaming capabilities, and customization options for each individual podcast feed. For $2 you can't go wrong.
