Help with Jailbreaking a friends iPod

My mates just gave me his ipod and asked me to jailbreak it and put some of my music onto it aswell.

Now i have a iPhone 4s myself, jailbroken. But i don't want to sync my friends ipod with my itunes.

Is there anyone that can help me jailbreak it and put some of my music onto it aswell without syncing via my itunes??

Also same topic, my friend wants his iphone jailbreaking by me next week. Is there anyway of backing the phone up to my computer just incase the jailbreak fails and i have to restore and try again??

I think syncing is the only way to put music on the iPod.

You'd have to authorize the iTunes library first, then see if you can backup your friends iPhone. It's better if your friend has a backup on his iTunes library because if you're gonna jailbrake, you're likely to shift-restore the iPhone.
