Hi all,
I signed up for their product and now I'm stuck.
  • 3G iphone
  • Started out at 4.2.1 but may have upgraded, been trying many things
  • Upgraded baseband to 6.15.00
  • Phone seems stuck in recovery mode
  • iTunes won't restore to 4.2.1...gets 1015 error

I can't get into the phone to see what versions are there now...itunes keeps recognizing it as a phone needing to be restored.

Can anyone help a newbie?

The issue is that you upgraded the baseband to 6.15.00, also known as the iPad baseband. Because of that you can never use the normal iTunes restore process again--you need to make a custom ipsw file to use for restoring. You can do that using Sn0wbreeze or Redsn0w (Windows), or Pwnage Tool (Mac).

Basically you need to make the ipsw but have it keep the baseband at 6.15.00. You then use iTunes to restore with that file, not the default Apple-supplied one.
