Ultrasn0w Unlock Failure

Hi Guys,

Apologies in advance if I've missed anything either on here or just in general during the process, I'm new to all the jailbreaking!

I've just jailbroken (untethered) my iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.0.1. When I've then gone to Cydia, downloaded ultrasn0w to unlock my phone it all goes fine but ultrasn0w isn't unlocking the phone and I'm still only able to use the sim from my locked carrier.

I have seen mentioned something about custom IPSWs and preserving basebands but this isn't anything that I was aware of during the jailbreak I did so I haven't even touched any of that stuff on my phone so I think this may be the issue?

Any help is much appreciated!
