It is an apparently trivial question. It is just the fact that after all excellent guides I've read, it is still not clear to me if I can unlock my iPhone.

    It is AT&T iPhone 4 with ver. 4.1 (8B1117) and firmware 02.10.04.
Some guides say that this firmware can't be unlocked. Is it true? Anything new (in software, not Turbo SIM)? Can the firmware be changed so the phone can be unlocked? If so, any drawbacks?

No software unlock, sorry. This is usually a good place to go with unlock questions: iClarified - Unlock Wizard for iPhone

And for jailbreak questions: iClarified - Jailbreak Wizard for iPhone, iPad, iPod, AppleTV

Is it possible to change the baseband such that it can be unlock? Is this procedure safe?
