Crippled Phone

I recently bought a 3gs off Craigslist. It was running 4.0. I connected it to my PC and tried to upgrade to 4.3. The upgrade did not complete (blew up during firmware restore) and put my phone into restore mode. Apparently the previous owner had done a jailbreak and unlock on it, but had not restored it correctly.

I finally hammered it with Redsnow over and over and got it up and running, and now I'm afraid to touch it. Is there any way to fix this phone? I don't know anything about unlocking but I think that's what messed it up. Please help....PJ

So what software is on it ? Also what is the baseband ? If the baseband is 6.15.00 then that y u can't update normally you would have to use a custom Ipsw

I know a little about jailbreaking but nothing about unlocking. This phone was unlocked and has the baseband 6.15. I'm not familiar with the custom ipsw files. Could you direct me to a tutorial or help please.
