If I jailbreak, can I still back up my phone with iTunes so I can restore from backup if a new OS comes out, and I choose to get rid of my jailbreak? Or will I have to do a full restore as new to do that if I jailbreak?

Trying to weigh my options. I really want better notifications and definitely want lockinfo, but that's really my only reason for jailbreaking. If Apple comes up with a better solution, I'd go back to stock.

If jailbroken and a new OS comes out do you have to do a restore before upgrading to the new OS or can you upgrade from a jailbroken iPhone?

    Thanks

You can do either option, upgrading will remove the jailbreak. If you have a problem then you could do a restore and upgrade. I know you're going to ask if you restore it's safe to restore from your backup it is your data only nothing to do with the firmware.
