iphone4 any network

can anyone tell me, can i unlock my iphone 4 or 3gs when i decide which 1 to get to any network provider. i seem to recall from old j.breaks some jb's allowed you to have an open network.

If you plan on purchasing one of those brand new now in the US chances are you will be unable to unlock if they have 4.2.1 or even 4.1 on them from the factory. I believe over in Europe you can just buy factory unlocked versions of them from some, if not all carriers.

In Canada if you buy one from the apple store it is unlocked as well.
