You should go ahead and use TinyUmbrella if you wish to preserve your unlock. If you don't use an unlock, upgrade to 4.1 and use either greenpois0n or limera1n to jailbreak your phone.

Maybe a stupid question: Am currently JB'd on iPhone 4, OS 4.0.1. Do I have to upgrade to 4.1 before running Greenpois0n? Is there any way to keep from losing existing JB apps/settings?

Morren, no you have to be in 4.1

You need to be on 4.1 to use the tool.

Ive used it on numerous OS versions... The most successful method seems to be to restore and jailbreak before syncing...
