Just out of curiosity...

I have a 3GS that I bought the day the iPhone 3GS came out, but it says the model is MC

I read that the MB was the old model, and the MC is the new model... but since I got my 3GS on the release day, how could it be the new model?

A while ago I asked this someone said that the MB/MC only matters for iPod touch, but in several web sites, (e.g.: Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 with Sn0wbreeze | Redmond Pie first paragraph) it mentions that you can only jailbreak the old model.

Can someone clear this up for me?

Thanks :)

Have you had to exchange your iPhone for any reason?

I got mine about a month after the iPhone 3GS had come out and in my General->About it says the model is MB....

The new model starting shipping sometime in September/October.

I just checked f0recast, and it still says MC model, but it says jailbreak will not be tethered

Just another quick question, is f0recast talking about 3.1.2 or 3.1.3?

F0recast refers to the most current firmware version that sn0wbreeze can jailbreak, which is 3.1.3. If it tells you that you can jailbreak, then guess what? You can use sn0wbreeze and cook up a custom firmware to upgrade to 3.1.3.
