I have a jailbreaked and unlocked iphone 3g (jailbreaked using blackra1n). I want to upgrade v3.1.2, but I would like to keep my current apps and settings. I plan to use blackra1n to jailbreak and unlock. What is the best way to do this so I can keep the apps from cydia and settings? Thanks

The best way is to just stick where you are and forget about 3.1.2.

Aptbackup or similar program will backup your jailbreak apps ( in a sense ) but I don't think all the settings are restored with them.

There isn't any real reason to upgrade, IMHO.

I was forced to do it via a complete system failure. Had to use sn0wbreeze and every bit of troubleshooting I've learned on these forums to keep my jailbreak and unlock.

Those type of stories make me thankful that I own a relatively uncomplicated 3G unit.

You'd be amazed at the level of inexplicable panic that overtook me for about 30 seconds or so when I realized that I couldn't recover from it. Then troubleshoot mode turned on and I turned into a super hero. *chuckle*
