I just bought a 3gs from AT&T today with firmware 3.1 and I wanted to know if there's a way to jailbreak it, safely, and which program should I use to do so. Please help!!!

Apple isn't signing 3.1 anymore, any restore will not allow a restore of 3.1 or 3.1.2. There are curently no jailbreaks for 3.1.3. I think you're out of luck right now.

Oh I know that there are no jailbreaks for 3.1.3 but since I'm at firmware 3.1 I thought that there might be a way of jailbreaking it. Is there a way of jailbreaking 3.1 with pwnage tool or something? Or does having 3.1 is almost the same as having 3.1.3, cause neither can be jailbreaked.??

The catch is we don't really believe you bought it "today" and that it was on 3.1.

It's more than likely 3.1.3 which can't be jailbroken.

The only way you can jailbreak is if you restore with a firmware cooked by Pwnage Tool or somehow get to 3.1.2 and jailbreak with blackra1n.

The problem is, with the 3GS you need Apple to "verify" the firmware, and they stopped allowing 3GS' to restore to anything other than 3.1.3. You're out of luck right now.

Well I bought the iPhone yesterday and the iPhones they sold me arrived at that specific At&T kiosk in december so it still had firmware 3.1 out of the box. So is there a way of jailbreaking it or a place where I can get a 3.1.2 ispw without having trouble.
