Jailbreak OS 3.0 or 3.1.2?

I have an iPhone 3G running OS 3.0 and I want to jailbreak and unlock it. Question is, would I be better off for any reason upgrading to 3.1.2 first and then unlocking or should I just leave it on 3.0?? Please advise if there are any reasons to upgrade first. Thanks

If you're going to use Blackra1n to jb, you must update to 3.1.2 first.
