Hi,
I've jailbraken my iphone 3g firmware 3.1.2 and all's fine.
Is this a tethered jailbreak or is it only the 3gs that is tethered at the moment?

thx

Yup, if the 3GS was manufactured in weeks 36 or earlier you will most likely have an untethered jailbreak. The newer ones (week 40+~) contain a new bootloader which cause you to have a tethered jailbreak. The iPhone 2g and 3g are not affected by this to my knowledge.

So if I'm a 3GS at 26 week on 3.1.3 I won't be able to jailbreak but if I drop down to 3.1.2 I can do an unteathered jailbreak being that I'm below week 36? I know it's a stupid question but I'm just a newb. Thanks

Being that you're on 3.1.3 and have never jailbroken before, you cannot downgrade to 3.1.2. You're stuck until a native 3.1.3. jailbreak is out.

Cool. Thanks a lot cause I was gonna try it tonight. I'll just wait for a new jailbreak. I appreciate the help. Any idea when a new one might come out by chance?
