    Hello.

    I had a iPhone 3Gs on the 3.1.2 firmware.

I followed the Pwnage Tool guide (exactly) to creating a custom firmware.

When getting to the stage where you have to hold 'alt' to chose your firmware my iphone came up with the infamous '1600' error.
But i could not get my iphone to load any custom firmware or official firmware of the iphone, it would only let me 'restore and update'

I was starting to worry about my iPhone so in the end, had to restore and update and it all installed fine. Now i am on the poxy 3.1.3 firmware.

    Just wondering,
What could i possibly of done wrong?
Is there a downgrade for the iPhone 3Gs?
Is there a jailbreak for the new software / If not, is there one on the way?

Thanks very much for your time reading this.
    Anton.

HOW TO FIX 16xx ERRORS WHILE RESTORING

Once you get the error DONT DISCONNECT IPHONE OR CLOSE ITUNES.

1). You get the error. (in this case, 1601)
2). DON'T TURN OFF ITUNES. DON'T DISCONNECT IPHONE.
3). If the iPhone is still on, reboot/restart the phone. If it's off or unresponsive, then you'll need to kick it out of DFU mode next.
4). Press and hold the power and home button for some time to kick the phone out of DFU mode.
5). iTunes will finally detect it again.
6). Now try to simply restore it - click on the "Restore" button on iTunes, and voil. It SHOULD work if everything went correctly.
