FAQs no help to jailbreaking my iPhone 3.1.2

I have been trying to jailbreak my iPhone 3g 3.1.2. 8gb and have had no luck what so ever..I've tried every FAQ and help tips I can find. I use blackra1n and never see the guys picture and never resets and doesn't install blackra1n...please help me

Yes, I have even tried redsn0w and have gotten nowhere with it as well

As a new iPhone owner & still on the fence to jb or not...

How would redsnow possibly work & not blackra1n?

Because all of these applications are picky / finicky. They can be difficult...
