2G Updating to 3.1.3

I'm new to Iphones and this forum.
I have an unlocked 2G running 3.1.2 that is synced to my PC. If I upgrade to 3.1.3 will I need to unlock my phone again?

As of now, that's not a very smart idea as there is no jailbreak/unlock for 3.1.3 yet.

What to do if you did? I can't use my phone, I need it to unlock.

You can jailbreak your iPhone using snowbreeze but only if your iPhone has old bootroom.

Check the details before going into any jailbreaking process.

If you need an unlock, you may be SOL for now. I haven't really researched it so I'm not going on record, but I'm going to bet that's the case. I know there's a jailbreak for 3.1.3 now for mac users, don't think that included an unlock as of yet though.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I only browsed the article as I haven't updated yet as I didn't think it was a huge update worth the hassle.

As of now that's not quite a good idea to do. you can downgrade any phone that been upgraded already. There is no jailbreak for 3.1.3 yet. So all you have to do is to wait.

3.1.3 supposedly has no updates tho...is this fact?

If you have the older bootrom (your phone isn't new), you can downgrade manually and rejailbreak.

He says he has a 2G, so he doesn't have to worry about the baseband being updated. He'll be fine to unlock, or should be.
