Hi there, got a 32gb 3gs running 3.1.2. I've jailbroken the handset a few times and it works a treat. I installed things like; clear lockscreen, make it mine, crystal voice, winterboard etc. At no point have I installed any programmes with SSH in them. When I check the Cydia or Rock packages SSH is not present yet when I check SB settings I have the option to turn SSH on or off. Silly question but does this mean that the phone is running SSH even though it's not in the packages list and I haven't deliberatley installed it? Hope this isn't a stupid question. Cheers.

As long as SSH is not actively running, AND you have changed your mobile & root passwords, there should be nothing to worry about

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I know I can turn off SSH and change my mobile and route password from 'alpine' but my question is why would SSH be installed if it's not required by any packages and not installed by myself? Why also is it not showing in the manage package listings? If I don't turn it off and don't change the password am I still at risk or is the SSH already built into the iPhone original software?cheers

You may have somehow installed the SSH toggle for SBSettings but not the actual program.

If you have not installed ssh it's not in there. I think that toggle is just part of SBSettings.
