sorry if this is just for iphones
i dont know anything about ipod's untill yesterday (sick of them already)
but i have used blackra1n to jailbreak my lads ipod touch firmware 3.1.2
and every time i turn it off and back on it goes straight into recovery mode
then i have to run blackra1n to get it going again
this happens every time i turn it off and on

i read something about tethered jailbreak but dont understand
it there anything i can do to stop it going into recovery mode?

Unfortunately, no he most likely has the newest iPod Touch (3rd generation) and unfortunately, EVERY TIME he turns it off, or let's the battery die, he will have to connect it to a computer and re-jailbreak using blackra1n.

There is no other way right now, unfortunately. He may want to reconsider jailbreaking until a newer, less problematic jailbreak is out. A more permenant one.

I apologize if this isn't the answer you were hoping to find....
