JailBreak Scenario

iPhone 3Gs Black 32 gig.

Version 3.1 Software, 7C144

I bought it when it first came out

Using Windows


Can i Jailbreak? I don't care about unlocking, just talking about Jailbreaking.

I;m having trouble getting a clear answer on if there;s a "pwnagetool" for windows that fits what i need....

If you got the 3GS when it first came out, you should be fine to jailbreak. Right now the only tool to do it on windows is blackra1n ( blackra1n ), otherwise you need to download the properly "pwn'd" firmware and install that.

Yes, you can always use blackra1n on the officially updated 3.1.2 firmware, but as the previous poster has said, I'd recommend fusing a trusted source that has created you a custom firmware using Pwnage Tool on the Mac. Why? So that you can retain your ability to unlock in the future.

Why would you want to retain that ability if you have no plans to go to a different carrier?

So that next year, when the NEW iPhone comes out, and you want to upgrade it, if yousimply take you're jailbroken iPhone and unlock it, it raises the resale value by about $200 when you want to sell it and buy your new iPhone.
